Hello,
I put together a PC last year that is running like a dream: Abit BEII,128 RAM (PC100), GForce256 32 Meg DDR, 30 Gig Maxtor HDD, X-Gamer soundcard, etc. Naturally, I would like to eventually max out the Abit's mobo capabilities before building another system. For that reason, I would like to get a P3 933MHZ SECC2 Slot 1 processor as an upgrade (I will need to get PC133 memory as well).

I was wondering what is the best way to go about waiting for P3 SECC2 Slot 1 CPU prices to go down without having to run the risk of not being able to find them anymore?

Thanks in advance for your comments and/or suggestions.

To save yourself some money and this problem get a p3 700e in the cbo or cco stepping. This processor will overclock to at least 933 mhz about 95% of the time or even more.

When you think about it the 933 is intel just overlocking a 700 mhz chip and charging you alot more for it.

So basically get yourself a decent hsf if you don't already have one and get the 700e. You will be saving some cash and its alot more fun to overclock.

btw I'd also recommend some good pc 133 memory and not generic since it's at such a cheap price.

The cC0 architecture was designed for the 1133/133 model. The cC0 850/100 is essentially the same, underclocked.

In general, a cC0 750/100 is likely the best overall speed/$$ choice. Almost sure to see 1GHZ, maybe more.
