As most of you are aware, companies such as Double-Click and their ilk are using cookies and other such stuff to follow us citizens around the web.

I think that the Norton and Mc Afee's of the world should start creating anti-(maliscious)-cookie software. I know that we need cookies to "enhance" our web experience, but enough is enough. These programs and be written and updated just like standard anti virus software, and "nuke the
snoops"

Thats my opinion anyway....

Something like this?

Norton Internet Security 2000</A>
Dave

Edit- your right chuckiechan, this won't identify the companies doing it, it just supposedly blocks information from going out. http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/featuresC.html

Norton has enough problems with having their anti crash software crach your system, mayeb they should fix that first...

Dave H. No, not that...

What I want is a software that identifies the companies that are gatherers. Remember the Comet download from Netscape? It's where they sneak in and follow me around, and then report back to the parent site what my (boring) preferences are....then combine it with other data to build a file. Why do I get only catalogs for hunting boots rather than ballerina shoes? Why computer stuff rather than cans of mace? This dosen't happen by accident!

Please explain to me why cookies are necessary in the first place? I allready know where I've been. "I want a clue as to where I'm going.." http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.

P.S. I know what cookies are I'm just giving you a rash of CR%$. If you dont like them then disable the darn things as far as I'm aware you still can...
