Chef Mark 02-29-2000, 05:05 PM Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "toonie?" Chef Missing the point 02-29-2000, 05:14 PM A Toonie is a canadian coin for $2 chipbgt 02-29-2000, 05:15 PM I'm gonna pleade ignorance as well.... desmocat 02-29-2000, 05:16 PM toonie is a 2 dollar coin in canada. loonie is a one dollar coin.I learned this on a trip to banff/lake louise a couple of years ago when confronted with a vending saying "loonies only" I thought"****, my very own vending machine!" These canadian folks really are nice!! JUst razzin' you guys! Mp Biff 02-29-2000, 05:19 PM Chef Mark, it's a $2 Cdn coin, the $1 coin had a loon engraved on it and became known as a loonie. Then the $2 coin came out and became instantly known as a "toonie" Biff Chef Mark 02-29-2000, 05:24 PM thanks for the education. It's been a while since I have been in Canada. Chef RCN_Moose 02-29-2000, 05:34 PM I you think thats bad, wait till they force a $5 dollar coin on us. At the rate we're going we won't need wallets, just change purses. LOL http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Moose Wiz 02-29-2000, 05:35 PM too much change weighs too darn much!!! plucky duck 02-29-2000, 05:38 PM Now you guys see why some of us Canadians are so *loonie*....'cause we've got to much toonies. In Canada, everybod's just loonie toons. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Plucky Missing the point 02-29-2000, 05:44 PM we're Loonie toonies! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif seti 02-29-2000, 05:44 PM plucky, I really wish you hadn't told everybody you were Canadian. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Isn't the official name for a "toonie" a Nanuk(sp?).....it's Inuit for polar bear. I've had $32 worth of change in my wallet once....I had to walk with a limp. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif AuraEdge 02-29-2000, 06:31 PM lol 5 buck coins? 'foonies'? Got some canadian friends, almost fell off my rocker when i heard that the first time. You do your thing, we'll do ours http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Were gettin the US dollar coin back... Isnt like that kinda counterproductive? CujoRbd 02-29-2000, 06:40 PM hey, if we're all loonie toons, then let's get on with the (new, but still OK) song.... "We're tiny, we're toony. We're all a little loony. And in this cartoony we're invading your TV........" don't that just brighten the room there, plucky? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif anywayz... CujoRbd seti 02-29-2000, 07:44 PM I don't think it's counterproductive. With more and more people useing debet cards for everything, physical money is becomeing less important. The avarage life cycle for a metal coin is far far longer than that of a bill which means less money is spent at the mint printing money. Also, whenever I'm in the states I find buying a soda or anything from a vending machine frustrating. haha, insert, reject, run it over the corner of the machine a few tiems....repeat. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif U-96 03-01-2000, 01:49 AM CDN$5 coin? I suggest "moonie" U-96 SysOpt.com
