So I just got my Iwill KA266 with my 1gig AMD rev C. cpu and 128mb of Kingston 2100 DDR Ram....

So I want to overclock the sucker.

What should I do and how do I go about it?

I guess I have to unlock the multiplier first huh? Which I think I have a site for.

Then what is the 133mhz jumper on the motherboard for? Can I enable this or not?

Right now I have the multiplier at 7.5x and the cpu at 146.2mhz... so pretty lame.

I have a nice big heatsink and fan for the cpu so no problem there. Just wanting to now what other bios stuff I need to do and what should I set the FSB and Multiplier to so I get the best performance out of this combo.

Yeah!!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You're doing just fine at 146fsb. It sounds like it's time to pencil in. Unlock that multiplier and start thinking about some serious cooling.

Ok so this is what my current temps are for the above...

<IMG SRC="http://www.members.home.net/tzmueller/images/temp.gif" border=0>

So I am thinking now that (said the pencil trick) unlocking and bringing my multiplier up to 9.5 and then my FSB to 133 so that should equal 1263.5 mhz... which raises one of my original questions.... what can I do in the bios to help out and what the frag is the 133mhz jumper on the board for (nothing specific in the manual (****!!!)).

Leave your fsb high. The more mhz of fsb you can get is best. Pencil in and start inching the multiplier up. Use the fsb to fine tune it when you top out.

41C is your temp, I assume at idle ?

How much did that setup cost? I'm in the market right now for a good socket A setup. Nice overclock http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Yeah, 41c is idle... the system (motherboard, ram, new 300w case and cpu) cost me about $800 CDN... so about $50 US http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I have the same board and processor. Change your memory setting to ULTRA and you'll do even better. Also download the latest bios from IWill (Apr16). I've almost got my processor to 1400, so I'm happy.

Sixpac:

This is my Iwill KK266 (Default 200 FSB) with a Socket A 1.2 Ghz slightly oc'd using Sandra Benchmark:

That second image of yours: WCPUID / CPU Status -- I;ve seen it around, but cannot remember where to find that program. Can you post link?

Thx!

So good news! ha ha ha

my Iwill board FRIED so they gave me a Gigabyte GA-7DX board and upgraded my cpu to a 1.2 gig AXIA AMD cpu... (sweat)... Also I added 256mb more of 2100 DDR RAM... (sweet)...

Right now i have the sucker overclocked to 1242 mhz (138x9)

Anybody use this Gigabyte board and what updates (software) should I download and install?

Your Iwill board fried??? Well that's one less choice on my list. How's that Gigabyte board doing? How much was it?

The funny thing is they ordered another IWill board and that one fried too... so they suggested the Gigabyte board... well I went to www.amdzone.com (http://www.amdzone.com) and checked it out and thought what the hell...

Anyways, the board is running pretty stable right now... (I am typing with it) and it cost me $100 less (CDN) then the Iwill.
