I downloaded a virus, Pretty Park.exe. Simialr to Happy99 worm. This program e-mails itself to all on your e-mail list. It connects to an IRC server and joins to a specific IRC channel. It can receive commands through this connection. ZoneAlarm notified me when my computer wanted to send information. I thought this was odd, and soon after realized I has a virus. ZoneAlarm was my only clue! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif I have since eraticated the virus from my PC. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

ZA has to be the coolest freeware app that is on the market today. I definitely give it my complete endorsement. After convincing several of my friends that they need a firewall on the system, I get nothing but compliments on how ZA has helped, or even saved, them.

How many have tried it on W'2000 with NO problems?

Probably not many, as every time I've installed it on a Win2K system it's had serious issues. Since the people I deal with most use Win9x, I don't really view this as an issue. If your running Win2K, I would recommend using a seperate box running Linux or BSD as a dedicated firewall.
Win2k is a step in the right direction, but it definitely isn't a consumer OS. Kind of like OS/2. It was extremely fast, and had a cool interface, but it lacked the common features needed for an all purpose consumer product. I like Win2k, but I do not represent mainstream computer market (people new or just learning about computers).

I'm running BID and Jammer together, and was wondering if anyone is running these two and ZoneAlarm concurrently with no conflicts? (I'm pretty sure I saw someone here...)
Also, I can recommend The Cleaner. It picked up a webserver Trojan a week or so ago that nothing else caught (BID, NAV, Jammer) I decided to purchase it. http://www.moosoft.com/ - 30 day unclipped trial.

Thanks, jad.
Doesn't it figure though? I buy BID then ZA comes along. Who would have thought a freeware firewall would be any good? (well.. I didn't) What I've been reading lately about ZA, this program just keeps getting better reviews.

I had bid and zonealarm and bid never got a chance to detect anything anymore as ZA picked up everything first so I tried bid alone to see if it was still working and..yep it was..I now only use ZA and have no problems..I like it that I can stop ALL internet activity with the click of a button and go to work...try it socalgal you will be pleased with it..I too paid for bid but..free and better cant be beat..

Thanks Codybear, I am going to try it. If SysOpt Members and Steve Gibson give it a thunmbs up, it must be good. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
