My dad has a Duron 700 and was looking to upgrade it since prices are so cheap. But I wanted to ask ya'll I question first. Will AMD release a faster duron soon? Possibly a 950mhz or a 1ghz? If so, how soon? I figured why buy a 900 now when you can get a 1ghz in a month or sooner.

Thanks

at what the prices are like now why not just go for a Athlon 1 gig if you look you can find for around $125 + change and most if not all are doing 1.33gig + out of the box http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I'll suggest you go to the Thunderbird line instead of sticking with the Duron line if you can afford it, the performance per increase in MHz goes lower as the clock speed raises. So even though you will see a performance difference upgrading from a Duron 700 to 900, it wouldn't be that great, if you however even just upgrade to a Thunderbird 900, the performance increase is more noticeable.
