I installed a new AMD 1.1ghz 200fsb on an Epox mb, fired it up and....nothing. Returned cpu as defective, tried AMD 1.133 266fsb (they sent the wrong one) and it ran for about a minute before a smelly death. Used a slightly older 600 rated fan\hs (had to confirm room for a new one). Took mb to retailer to test, and AMD 850 ran fine with new 1.2 rated fan. I know my fan was not ideal, but could heat toast one cpu almost instantly, and another in >2 min? Or, wierdness with mb more likley?

If you fit the wrong heatsink to a Socket A CPU, it has (according to AMD) about 8 seconds to live http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
