You should just be able to open the file, and due to win98 and its wonderful ie integration, it'll brin it up in a window. right click, hit set as well paper, and you're a happy camper.

Yes, I've tried that, but it won't animate; it just shows the static pic of the first frame...

How about using a gif animation as a screensaver? Is that possible?

I don't think it is possible without a browser or Gif animator open. The closest I have to wallpaper/saver animation is GT Ripple. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://visualparadox.com/animated.htm

Absolutely gorgeous with a soft nature MP3.

You can use an animated .gif if you have "active desktop" enabled. Otherwise it will not be animated.

It is as easy as creating a simple web page .
Simply open notepad and type "<img src="c:\where ever\your image.gif">"Without the outside quotes, and then save it as a .html file then set it as your active desktop in control panel.

See it's easy as A,B,C Doh!!

Excellent, thanks Davem; now, can this be done in win95? 'Cause as far as I know, 95 does not have active desktop...

If you install IE 4 or 5 on Win95, it will get Active Desktop.

I don't think IE5 gets it unless you install *over* IE 4.

I reloaded Win a number of times recently and found that upgrading from IE3 straight to IE5 doesn't give one the Active Desktop feature.
