I was lucky enought to find 1 of the subject. It was specked out with a 2.0 v core voltage with aa 3.3v I/O. Nomenclature on the chip is "AMD K6-III/ ACK. After I ordered th chip, and in the process of being shipped to me, I called the vendor to check status of the order, and was told that this was the Moblie version chip.

I got really nervous paying $100.00 for this thing, since I previously purchased a K6-III+/450. That processor didn't work with my board (Tyan Trinity S1590). Since the
K6 III+ had a core voltage of 2.0 v, I figured that my new purchase wouldn't work either. I called Tyan Techincal support and they assured me that even though it was a mobile processor, with a core of 2.0 v, and not the + version, I should have no problem.

Got the processor, and it worked at 2.0v core at 450 MHz. I needed more so I began to try overclocking as I have in the past with my K6-II/450 (got that sucker op to 550).

Well, I got the new K6-III/450 to perform reliably at 500 MHz (buss speed 100 MHz, 5.0 multiplier) by upping the core to 2.3v. It's stable with 98 SE, ME, and 2000 professonal.

I'd like to go higher, but don't want to blow this guy up.

Any tips for me, or do I just cool my jets?

Thanks,

Butch

You sure that's not a 3+ cpu? They are mobile cpu's but many use them in pc's, and your mobo supports it I believe. My K6-3+/450 is running at 600/2.1v on a DFI mobo just fine. It's rated at 2.0v. Check out the K6-X series CPUs forum, there's plenty of K6 info:
