My friend has a Pentium III 800MhZ (Slot version) on a MATSONIC http://www.matsonic.com/ms7112c.htm]MS7112C motherboard. We want to overcloack it, and I would like to know where to start. As far as I know, the multiplier on Pentiums is locked, so I guess there is no way to increase multiplier (or is there?? perhaps a device like goldfingers??) I am going to a computer show on Sat. so I can buy all needed stuff there (HSF, fans, etc.) plus my friend wants to get a new HD and a new video card. So can anybody tell me what I can do with that matsonic motherboard (in terms of overclocking), and also I am recommending him GeForce 2MX as he is on a budget, which one would you guys recommend? I know they are all practically the same, but we wanna OC it a bit afterwards, so if anyone has any experiences with specific GeForce 2MX, please let me know. But my main question is still on how to overclock the maximum out of matsonic ms7112c motherboard, and Pentium III Slot processor.

The readings on the Pentium Cartridge (top);

800/256/100 1.65 S* ("*" - I wrote down the number somewhere but misplaced the paper, but I think it was "1")

Thanx in advance

Matsonic boards (mostly ECS/PC-Chips gear with a different sticker on) are made to be cost effective. You won't find any extra bits on them that would help overclocking, like funny clock synthesizers with lots of speed options, or voltage tweak circuitry. These things cost money - that's why they're not there on those boards. The boards are pretty quick and normally very stable at stock speeds, and if you ask me, I'd prefer that over a few percent of extra performance anytime.

Regards, Peter
