I recently purchased a boxed slot1 pentiumIIIse 850mhz cpu for this board and didn't open the box yet because I'm not sure if I made the right choice. This cpu runs on a 100mhz fsb. The chipset is intel 440bx. I was told that this mb and chipset are not stable above an fsb of 100, although there are increment bios and jumper settings on the board up to 150 fsb. Can't the board accomadate say a 933 pentiumIII flip chip as long as the board has all the proper voltage settings, fsb and clock multipliers?(which
it does). The asus socket converter also has a wide variety of voltage settings and fsb selections to override the board.
What is the maximum cpu that this board can handle and also, which is the best overclockable cpu for this board.

Doesn't anyone know if this asus 3pb-f mobo and intel 440bx chipset can support a pentium III, 133 mhz cpu. Please help, I must return this boxed cpu by today , and would rather purchase a a chip that runs at the higher bus speed if possible.

i would imagine so. although i have a p3bf with a p3 700. ive ran it at all different speeds when overclocking.
heres some specs from asus.

my friend has an 850 (p3bf too)which isnt listed on the asus site but it works fine. i dont think it would be a problem to run 133 FSB considering my 700 (100FSB) does it no problem. hope this helps a bit.

maybe this is useless info but I am trying the same thing with my BX mobo. I was surprised to find out that even though the voltage and fsb support appear to be available, I was not able to run my AGP card at 1/2 the speed of 133mhz which could possibly hurt my GFMX card.
Consequently, I am looking at the 1GHZ 100mhz style PIII. This way I can keep everything as is.

i have the same board and a P-3 850 running at 1054 mhz.Stable as a rock at 1.7 volts. I've tried to get it to boot at 133 on the FSB but it just laughs at me. Usong a golden orb cooler it runs about 10-15 degrees above room temperature even during benchmarking.

I think what everyone is trying to say is that yes, the cpu will work (you may have to flash your bios to even get it to boot), but at 100 mhz fsb, which would make it ummm, a 650 Mhz chip.
