overclocking P-II 300 on a AL440LX

hi..i would to seek help on how to
overclock my P-II 300 Mhz on Intel AL440LX

Overclock on an LX? It depends, it may only support 66mhz, it may support 100mhz, if it supports 100mhz, you can overclock, if not you are probably screwed. If it does not support 100mhz, tape pin 21 and find out where the multiplier setting on your board are.

The bus speed on the lx is 66mhz and the speed settings are set in the bios the only was you can overclock it is to try softfsb

I had no problem oc'ing my p-II 233 with the al440lx chipset. I used softfsb and it ran extremely stable at close to 300 and the chip was a Klamath which was not really the best to oc. Just make sure u cool it well! Good Luck!!!

My old PII-300/AL440LX is alive and well in my Niece's home. I think I left it set for 338/75, but maybe 374/83, using SoftFSB. It has a hefty dual fan heatsink. She hasn't called with problems, I set it up 3 months ago.

i have a PII300 (SL2W8) running at 450 on a BH6 abit board i tried to o/c it on a gigabyte LX board but 374 is all it would do LX will not support 100mhzbus i hit 504 and ran it for a while but it got to hot but i just updated the bios of the BH6 and bought a PIII850 and put on it look at this sight for tips onhttp://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/98q4/981215/sl2w8-02.html o/c it

Softfsb is a program that you can download to manipulate the fsb. I think that it does have your mobo listed. I think that you can still get it at:

chipset. Softfsb does list my mobo http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Also, It said something that understood to be that softfbs needs to be turned on everytime i restart my machine. Is this true? Thanks.

Um, what is softfsb? I didnt see anything like that in my bios http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I am having trouble o/c my p2 233. It shows on the mobo which jumpers to change (jp9& 10) for the fsb, but they are nowhere on the board. And i tried all the different multiplier settings and cannot get anything better than 233 with 66fsb.Sorry, im at work and dont know which mobo i have at the moment.Thanks.

I forgot to say that hte mobo has a little picture of the fsb. it looks like i can go to 68 or 75. But cannot find jp9&10.

Use a program like Sandra etc. to see where you're at. It'll tell ya if you oc'd or not, and give you more info on other tweaks that you may wish to pursue.

I have this board and updated to the newest bios(~10/98). softfsb definitely works and I presently am using a 466 celeron with a asus socket converter at a voltage of 2.1; stable at fsb=80. cpu@ 561 ! Thats the best I ever heard anyone get out of this board.
I'm surprised the agp bus at 80 doesn't lock up. My video card is a diamond viper ultra (tnt2 ultra) I love it.
