Has anybody tried to overclock that CPU because I'm seriously thinking of buying it but if it's cr@p for o/c I'll stick with my old one.

Both went to 1000MHz. No 766MHz Cel were listed and of 5 733 MHz Celeries, none went higher than 997. May be an ok chip. In my experience, the earlier releases of Celerons at any given speed seem to be the best overclockers. I have only had 3 Cel2's though. One 533, and 2 566. Al did at least 850 without extreme measures in cooling or voltage. What proc do you have now? Dave richamies 03-12-2001, 04:03 PM Personally, I'd go for the slowest cC0 stepping Celeron you can find. These were the latest PIII 1.13Ghz core, and are very good clockers. My first CellyII 566 was a cB0 stepping, and the most I could get 100% stable was 893mhz with 1.85v. This cC0 I have, well, it rocks! It does 850 with 1.3v(yes, that is 1.3v!) and will rock on to 980mhz at default voltage. Runs 100% stable at 1130 with 1.85v, and even runs for a few minutes at 1190mhz. Either find a 566 and run it at 850, or a 600 and run at 900. If you've got some 'in-between' bus speeds, you can squeeze soem more out of it. Fastest air-cooled Celeron? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif <IMG SRC="http://www.mad-gamers.org.uk/rich/Celly1190.gif" border=0> Rich http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif djurom 03-12-2001, 04:29 PM I have now 2 Cc0 700. First @100MHz Second @91MHz but sometimes unstable (cooling not sitting properly?) Barney 03-12-2001, 04:31 PM I keep saying it, that's one sweet processor you have. I wonder what it would do if you had something like a FOP-38 on it or maybe "The Core"... (http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/heatsinks/cpufx_core/index.htm) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif I got someone cracking RC5 for me with a Celeron 633 at 950 with a crappy Coolermaster cooler. I assume it's stable, because the blocks keep coming! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif But usually the (s)lower Celeron II's are better overclockers, partially because they have a lower multiplier. Ronald djurom 03-12-2001, 04:44 PM Barney, I've seen that before and it was little bit to expensive for me. I currently use Titan Majesty. My CPU is on CPU socket adaptor so even this thing is pretty heavy plus I don't have much room in my case. richamies 03-12-2001, 05:02 PM I just use an £11 Golden Orb and cheap thermal paste. Rich http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Barney 03-12-2001, 05:12 PM You should be ashamed, putting a Golden Orb on it! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Titan Majesty. It looks cool , but really isn't very cool (read that on Tom's Hardware Guide). The core is expensive (70 bucks) and I'm pretty sure you would need a socket mainboard to be able to slap it on your processor. But I believe it comes closest (of all air coolers) to water cooling. And some deodorant to stop it sweating too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Rich http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif SysOpt.com
