can't o/c my tbird 950

I did the pencil trick but to no success. What happens when you try to o/c it without unlocking? I may not have unlocked right. My comp just doesn't boot. Also i have pc133 sdram and abit kt7raid, my fsb/pci is set to 100/33 and my additional fsb setting is set to 0. Is that maxing out my ram or just implementing as pc100? Thanks for any replies.

does it still boot at 950?
if so sounds like yr going to high or voltage needs uppping.
if it doesnt boot at all sounds like u need too do the pencil bit a bit more carefully.

from what i the pencil trick does not work very well. theres a special type of pencil to use. most reccommond mechanic or some worksman pencil. For best result solder. I wouldn’t recommend this tho!!! It could fry your chip if you have no clue in hell on what your doing

also with a locked chip you will not be able to overclock even if you change the settings on your mb

Your nut's , my cheap pencil , make's my duron hit-1050mz! It will not last forever ,all you do is put some more lead on it. Any #2 should work! Solder that and look for new chip. Very tiny connector's, use magnifining glass and pencil sharpener,pencil.

Use a conductive pen which has a great micro edge tip. You can find one at your local electronics store.

I'm having the same problem with my duron 700 but i think i got the thing 3 work but i have a bios that is set 2 7x100 and wont shift beond 784mhz but is too unstable i would love 2 know how 2 change the multiplier setting but the bios auto detects the chip...could i update the bios to make it run faster any suggestions welcome...the mobo is a k7vza with 200mhz fsb it says that it garantees 1.5ghz on the box but if it does i will be happy and also when you update your bios do you have! 2 pay 4 the update or can you get it else where it's an award bios pls reply if u know any info about this
