Hi guys! Can you explain to me why overclocked system has problems with graphic cards (e.g. Celeron@83MHz runs OK but picture freezes)?

Can you explain to me why overclocked system has problems with graphic cards (e.g. Celeron@83MHz runs OK but picture freezes)? jaida 02-19-2001, 09:24 AM An overclocked system would have problems with graphics cards because their agp divider or pci divider (depending on which type the card is) are set incorrectly or the card cannot handdle the high fsb of the system. For the example you have listed I would say the agp or pci divider would be set wrong. Assuming the celeron is using an agp card i would say it was using a 1/1 multiplier for the 83 fsb which would mean the card was running at 83 mhz and couldn't handle that speed. The solution would be to set the multiplier to 2/3 which would leave the card running at 55 mhz. The default speed for the agp bus is 66 mhz and your card would be running at 55 mhz. You would want to be as close to 66 mhz so you could try to raise the fsb speed again and if the system run great it moves you agp bus closer to spec but if not then you just have to live with the 55 mhz. The 55 mhz would likely cause only a small performance hit but nothing really that noticeable. Try slowing down the core and memory speeds with whatever overclocking utility exists for your card. I did this once and it worked. Also, try cooling your card down with larger heat sink fans etc. djurom 02-20-2001, 12:35 AM jaida is more closer to my question because I've tried underclocking and it didn't work so I guess I'll try this with divider.
