Just got a brand new abit se6 motherboard, and I've been trying to overclock a celeron 566 on it. Boots fine and does every day win apps just fine @850 running at 1.7v, but heavy duty 3D apps (games) lock it up. I'd bump voltage up some more, but the se6 only lets you go to 1.7v. Any ideas on how to increase the voltage, or make it stable enough to play games at 1.7?

a trick to making Abit boards have a higher voltage is to flash the rom while your voltage setting is set to the highest, then when you reboot with the newly flashed rom you should have lots of extra voltage settings. Hope this helps... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I tried the old trick of flashing the bios with the voltage maxed. I also put in the /cc command, but unfortunately, it didn't do anything, still only lets me go up to 1.7v. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure why you can't change the voltage on your SE6. I was able to do so on mine without issue.

In the bios, simply change the CPU setting to USER DEFINE, and then change the voltage to USER DEFINE as well (this must be done seperately in this bios), and you should be able to change it from the standard 1.65

I can change the voltage on my se6. It's just that I can't raise it high enough. I'm overclocking my celeron 566, which runs stable at about 1.8v when you run it at 850. The bios only lets you go up 10% from the default voltage which means I can't go past 1.7v on the bios. However, abit has released a new bios (TQ) that lets me raise the voltage a little bit more. Otherwise you can try the connecting the two pins on the CPU trick to raise the default voltage. Thanks for responding you guys.

The new VK BIOS will allow 1.9 volts with the PIII chips. This is up from 1.85 with the SW BIOS.

The voltage increase by reinstalling the BIOS does not seem to work with the SE6.
