I have an old pentium 75mhz processor laying around. It used to be I my system before "The Winchip" came along. I replaced it because it was acting all screwed up. My computer started some wierd phase where it would run fine for 30-60 seconds and then it would almost freeze for a few minutes. The freezes started getting longer until it was almost always slow. I was running win95 at the time. I attributed the slowdown to the cpu, I never thought about a fresh install(was a new to computers). Finially I got my dad to take me out and get a new chip. Again, being newbies to computers, we got "The Winchip http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif" at Staples for $150 canadian. Now I just beat myself because I sould have gotten a k6-2. Anyways, a few days ago, I tried the pentium 75 in my ASUS P5A-B. The only problem was, the lowest it went was 60*1.5 (pentium 90). I set it up as a p90. My computer would power up, but it would not post. Is the cpu dead, or can it just not run and 90mhz?
I think that I also might have killed the chip. After I upgraded, I used to look at the chip a lot. I think I might have shocked it! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
