Sweet. Just a tad faster than a PIII/500, huh. lol.
And you haven't even overclocked it have ya? I bet you can easily break 2200/1000 (mips/mflops).

What is that benchmark? Is it freeware and if so where can I get a copy??
Thanks...

Well,
or I'm a complete idiot all of a sudden,
but the last time I saw that kind of a screen was when I started sisoft sandra 99
It's downloadable just about anywhere, but I don't have thelink right here.
Oh no, you might wanna try www.downloadsafari.com. (http://www.downloadsafari.com.)
That's a real, well yeah, downloadsafari.
Keep clocking boys.
Pim.

Nice numbers.
I built my first system yesterday -- also an Athon 600. I'm using the ASUS K7M mobo, and have 256MB of PC133 Micron RAM.
My OS is Win98SE.
Now for the crappy part... Using the same benchmark program, I'm getting:
CPU Dhrystone 225 MIPS
FPU Whetstone 189 MFLOPS
That's worse than a 266!!! What gives?
THe data field at the bottom reads:
Processor: AMD Athlon Processor 605MHz
CPU Load: 100%
Number of threads: 43
Please help!!

Spartan - I had the same problem - flash your BIOS that should fix it.
My PC133 SDRAM wouldn't work - nothing but BSODs but my cheap PC100 works just fine in there.

Hmmm... I did flash to rev 1007. Do you mean one of the beta BIOS?
Wait, I just remembered, you have a FIC mobo, correct?

Well, I don't know what, but obviously something is very wrong there spartan. You should be benchmarking WAY above a P3/500 and a good bit above a P3/600...[well duh!]...you should be getting similar results as CMonster.
Start a new thread and give us some details so we can help ya out. Gee whiz man, you're driving a Lamborghini (http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Diablo/DiabloGTR/GTRrear.gif) and you haven't got out of 1st gear yet!

Yes Spartan, I have the FIC mobo but I've heard it's the same thing with the Km7 - you need to flash right off the bat - but if you have already flashed the BIOS then something else is obivously the matter - Did you try clearing the CMOS and setting the BIOS defaults after the flash?
I had problems with the PC133 memory, but I doubt that is your problem.

I tried a couple of things after reading your post last night. I flashed to bios rev 1008 which caused all sorts of problems -- I couldn't even boot!
Then I restored to the failsafe settings and back to 1007 and all was well again.
Feeling saucy, I then flashed to the 126 beta bios. Again, no boot, so back to 1007.
After boot, I did the benchmarking again, and VOILA! Top notch numbers -- comparable to yours.
So, back into the bios, I set some things differently in terms of disks an so forth and now the benchmarks were low again.
One last time in the BIOS, I hit the optimal performance button, and BAM the numbers shot up again. Needless to say, I'm going to leave it there for awhile.
So now I'm wondering, I was seeing those terribly slow benchmarks although my system didn't seem that slow. Is my system really that much faster now -- or is it just that the benchmarking software is finally getting an accurate reading?
One last thing, when I perform some of the first three benchmarks (I can't remember exactly what they were) I get a bluescreen on that app and it terminates. Wierd, eh?
Whew! My fingers are tired!

Spartan,
Glad to hear about your success. I suspect that your system was actually slow, and not just an incorrect reading by Sandra, because when I had the same problem I also tested the system with Wintune and tried playing NFS3 - it was pitifully slow - but then after the BIOS flash everything came up screaming.
Good thing the "beta" BIOS flash didn't kill your board hugh?
I was going to come back and ask if you loaded the driver for the AMD 751 chipset but it looks as though you had already done that.
Finally, some Sandra test modules will crash your system - especially an AMD based system. The Athlon is not yet supported by Sandra and it has no idea how to deal with the BIOS and chipset either. I also had Sandra crashes with a K6-2 system. But the good news is that you can edit those test modules - just turn off everything and then turn one thing back on at a time until you find what part makes it crash and leave that option off. Pay no attention to Sandra's memory benchmarks for your system - Sandra memory benchmarks for AMD K6-2s are off by about 50% and who knows how far off it is for an Athlon.
~edit: to EDIT Sandra modules; open Sandra/ right-click selected module/ select "Module Options"/ uncheck or check boxes
