At 1ghz I can post and get into Windows ME at 1.75 volts no probem.

I have cB0 stepping.

My problem is that I am using the stock heatsink fan and when I overclock to 1ghz and run 3DMark it just boots me out into the desktop after 10 secs, and Unreal T wont even start. The temps hit about 50 C and I was wondering if it was cooler would it complete the Benchmark?

Im running a Asus CUSL2 with a 1 day old P3 750E.

Well,if you still have the original thermal pad or whatever it is still between the cooler and the processor,you should take it off and put thermal paste between it.Should make a 5c difference although I don't know if heat is the source of your problem (I don't know what the normal operating temp is).

You can also try if upping the voltage to 1.8 helps.

i would recommend you get a good hsf for your proc. that temp is a little high. Also as Barney said try upping the voltage.

defenetly get a better Heatsink. I had similar temps at first running my PIII 700e @ 1GHz using the stock heatsink. Now I got a Kanie Hedgehog Copper heatsink with a 7000rpm Delta Fan & Arctic Silver Thermal paste.
Idle=28C Stressed=37C
Btw, I upped the voltage to 1.8, the system is rocksteady, even at 1050 MHz , but I keep it at 1GHz to be sure http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
have a look at http://www.ukgamer.net/index.asp?kind=other&item=Hedgehog , I submitted this article http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I would higly recommend the Golden Orb for your purpose. It is $14 and runs mine super cool. (PIII 800 does 950 at 1.85V and 40C at 100% CPU utilization running RC5)

Your problem is more than likely cooling. I never try any overclock before I get better than retail cooling. Those fans really are not good at all.

I use the Abit BF6 (BX chipset) and got a Cel 566 to 961 at 1.75V with a G.Orb and have used it ever since on my other Celerons and PIIIs. I am about to get one for a Duron I am getting as well.
