Heres somethigns that just happened...

at sysopts homepage I got the newsletter pop up,
none of the threads showed up as new since my last visit,
my name was no longer saved in the username field,
some of the discussion groups "could not be displayed"
and no one is registered under my name?

I didnt delete any cookies, I just looked at sysopt maybe 15 minutes ago..wacky..this is the second time i have written this, lets hope it works this time

Everything is working for me right now. I have only hit a one small prob's over the past couple of days. A couple of days ago, the server "supposedly" lost all the html and content files for about 30 seconds (just posted standard "file note found" error for all links). Other than that meaningless incident, everything is working fine for me.

Had strange problem a few days ago, described in this (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/004827.html) topic.

Socalgal, apparently it wasn't a one-time thing!

Fast as fast can be...

No problems here...

is it your connection or your isp???

I can't say speed is a serious concern, even with my 56k connection at home I hit 8-12k/sec on this site. I also use hardware compression and software compression on a 49,333 connect, which can really rack up the throughput on sites based mostly on text (in this case, html).

another prob that seems to be happening is when clicking on links within a post nothing happens but when you manually type them in you get there been having this for the past 2 weeks on and off also profiles same problem?

What browser is causing the links error? With Netscape 4.7 and Opera 3.6, I don't have any prob's. but with IE 5.5 beta, I'm getting similar errors on a random basis. I just dismissed it on the fact of it being a beta test browser.

I'm not aware of any widespread problems, with the UBB software, EarthWeb's server, or otherwise.. And everything is working fine for me with DSL on the west coast.

Re IE5.5 - I would stay away from it if I were you. I had all kinds of problems and luckily managed to uninstall it (many haven't been able to).

Hello,

I can't see that clock in the upper corner of the screen. I am using Nescape 4.7 and IE5 (sometimes).

Scott, that's what I trying to hit at. If your using IE 5.5, then I can understand how these errors are ocurring. They are client side errors, not server side errors. Also, I've seen a few posts at other forums about issues with Win2k and certain websites, however I can't currently verify this while at home (mix of Win9x/Linux/Warp avaiable here).

Scott check your email!! A serious security issue has just arrised with certain versions of UBB, not sure about 5.39c. I just caught a message at another board, so this has happened with the past few days. This is REALLY important.

------

Just started suffering loss of username and passwork between posts, really weird it started now.

------

I think I've edited this message about twenty times, but I flushed the cookies file in NS 4.7, deleted all cached files, and restarted. All problems seem to have been corrected.

------

Thanks for the prompt reply Scott. I feel better knowing that this issue has been fixed, and as always, I (and others that might know what I'm referring to) appreiciate your understanding and quick response on this matter.

Speed's better today, it has to be a server between here and there -- I'm on a university ethernet so speed is blazing, usually. But yesterday and Sunday I was timing out on most pages at Sysopt, and nowhere else...

Same here on a T3 near L.A.
Thought it was another "denial of service" hack attack soemwhere, but guess not. Sysopt
loads s-l-o-w yesterday and a bit easier today.
