I heard that Duron's weren't as stable as the Celeron, and tends to crash more often. Is this true?

Wilan Wong 11-11-2000, 05:51 AM I heard that Duron's weren't as stable as the Celeron, and tends to crash more often. Is this true? Peter M 11-11-2000, 08:15 AM No, not true. What is true is that the Athlon/Duron CPU draws more power, and dissipates more heat, than Intel's current offerings. Meaning that it's much easier to screw up when building a system. Weak power supplies, wimpy fan/heatsink combinations, assembly or airstream problems, all those things bite you much easier when it's an Athlon/Duron system. Stability is up to you. Regards, Peter jl123 11-11-2000, 11:57 AM I have a Duron 600@1000 and it is rock stable. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I agree with Peter on this. I don't have any problems with stability. I have a FOP38 cooler and a Antec 300watt power supply. I have absolutly no problems with mine. ~Joel LiLRiceBoi 11-11-2000, 02:10 PM i would also prefer the duron over celeron. i'm not sure about stability though, but my doron 700@900 is stable w/ stock cooling Missing the point 11-11-2000, 02:40 PM I got a Stubborn Duron 650, it will not seem to go over 850 at any voltage. I am running at 1.85V right now, just because. I am running at 850, GlobalWin FOP-32, and it is INCREDIBLY stable. I had it running for 1 week and 6 days straight, and I have proof, too http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Thats with Windows98 also, so I am really proud of my achievement http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Wilan Wong 11-11-2000, 07:34 PM Thanks of your replies.
