If the price is almost the same, and overclocking is not a factor, then what would the better deal be, A Pentium 2 400mhz, or a Celeron 500. I already have a slocket adapter and a slotted mobo.

I tried out their P3's and for all the hype didn't impress me as much as the Celeron. In time I plan to bump it up to 500( at least) with no problem. If you can find a 366 celery, they go up to 550 without a hitch. Good luck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif the pickel P.S...If you afford it get at least 128Mb of RAM, makes all the difference... [This message has been edited by pickel (edited 02-19-2000).] bdog 02-19-2000, 04:21 PM Celeron 500 would definitely be faster than the p2400, but why not get a 366 and run it at 550 like Pickel said so that you will be running at 100 fsb? JonmaTifa 02-19-2000, 04:42 PM I would love to get a 366 cely and o/c to 550mhz. But the problem is that my mobo manual says nothing about any sort of 5.5 cpu multiplier. (Turbo-Guide 440BX) And my web proxy doesn't alow me to go to www.turbo-guide.com (http://www.turbo-guide.com) to read up on it. Also cmos only has options for Auto, 66mhz, 75mhz, 83mhz system bus speeds. I'm thinking a flash would do the trick, but then again, I have to proxy problem... seti 02-19-2000, 06:02 PM JonmaTifa....are you useing @home? Cuz if you are you can select not to use the proxy and get into those few sites @home screws up. Though I can get on that site with my proxy enabled. [This message has been edited by seti (edited 02-19-2000).] JonmaTifa 02-19-2000, 06:10 PM It's Microsoft Proxy server... The problem could be the ISP, or the proxy... It seems more likely to be the proxy... SysOpt.com
