If you can increase the Front Side Bus speed on that motherboard, then you can overclock. Check your owner's manual for how to do this, and increase it in small steps. If it doesn't run stable, you need to either increase the voltage, or get better cooling.

I just installed an cpu upgrade from Evergreen. Its a 500 celeron in a slot 1 adapter with a heat sink and fan.I have a intel 440lx board,128 mbram i was wondering can i overclock this or is it not a good idea.I also installed a 80mm sunon case fan to help cooling i have used the soft fsb progam on my 233 pent 2 but it started to make things run strange @280..and @266 it seemed ok.......any suggestions?

i looked at your board A440lx,and with your old chip you increase thru bios after jumpering one of the blocks, unshadowing part of the bios normally hidden.same as my friends dell xps 233.increase from 233,266,or300..you cant change fsb so i guess your stuck..i have never used softfsb but that looks like all you have left.sorry about the edits:Processor Speed · 200
