I Have never attempted an over clock before but was told it can be done with this motherboard with SoftMenu III is this true or do I need a special add on card?

you can overclock it a little by raiseing the FSB speed but to get any thing realy faster you will need a Gold Finger Device to change the multiplyer as well.

I have 6 750's on k7m mobo's and they all run at 900 or more with a liberator 2 GFD on them

AMD athlons do not like FSB clocking
maybe ya can raise the FSB a few mhz but not more

instead ya should get a GFD (goldfinger device)
and change the multiplyer on that mofo

ya might also need to bumb the voltage a bit
but this can be dangerous if ya dont have enough cooling
do not bumb it more that .3volts because that will most likely fry your CPU and sometimes yer mobo too

GFDz and cooling can be found all over the net
i have good feelings for http://www.plycon.com
they have good stuff and often in stock too wich is good

For FSB overclocking, the KA7 is by far the best m/b. I have this motherboard, and when I was running my Athlon 500 in it, I had no problem running it at 600mhz with the FSB at 120.

Just start by raising the FSB 1 or 2mhz at a time. I had better luck by raising just the bus speed and not the bus/pci speed.

After 5 or 10mhz increase you might need to also raise the CPU's voltage.
