Is their real difference between Pentium II and Pentium III? I currently use a Celeron 300a. I understand that it's like a Pentium II except for a difference in the cache. I guess the question I really am asking is the difference like the difference between a 386 and a 486? Where the bus was actually larger for is it just a software set up difference.

There are several differences between the PII and the PIII.
Cache amounts, location (on die/off die) and their speed. Slightly modified CPU core designs. Fabrication process die sizes. Instuction sets supported. Etc etc....
Am sure I have forgotten some other differences, so stay tuned for others to chime in.
