A bit of background first, I have a duron 600 with 133MHz mem (unbranded), the first mb I got was a Epox 8KTA, which was found to be faulty, I kept the board faulty for a month because the fault I had with it was that it wouldnt switch on first time and the poeple at the shop said I could wait untill a board came out that I prefered. While I was running the board it ran at 109MHz FSB for a month with no crashing etc. (on an aside the 3dmark I was getting was 2756).
Anyhow I swapped the board for the Asus A7V, and have just tried to run the FSB at 109 and it locked up then I tried 107 and again it has locked up) so now it's back at 100 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif , how come I can't run it at the 112 like every one else seems to be doing?? I did think it's because of the bios optomizations etc because at 100MHz FSB I am now getting a 3d mark of 2856 which is 100 higher than when I had the Epox at 109 FSB.
I am wondering if it is something to do with the way the board is using the memory, on both boards I have set the mem config to automatic and I am wondering if the asus board has set the timings faster for the mem, therefore not allowing it to go any faster, I might try and prove this by running the FSB at 112 and the mem at 112??
Does any one have any suggestions??
