I'm thinking of buying a Duron 700 and was to overclock it, but I do not want to pay an extra £50 getting an unlocked chip from Overclockers.
Can anyone tell me how I can do it myself?
Cheers

I believe the way to do it, is to connect all the bridges at the L1 section.
those are on top of the cpu, and you'd have to close the bridges on L1.
You'd have to do it with a pencil with enough graphite, or was it lead, in the pencil to conduct the power, and thus unlocking the multipliers.
Hope this helps a little.

Forgot to mention....
Have read the article on the sysopt site RE overclocking Durons but could not make out which bridges I need to connect together. Was it joining all the L1 bridges together or each L1 bridge to it's adjacent L3 bridge?

No,
you just have to re connect the L1 bridges, that's it!!!
I did that today at work with an 1Ghz Tbird, still have to clock it tho.
It's running at 31 degrees on stock voltage and stock speed.

I understand your confusion about L1 and L3. It confused me too. This is the way to do it:
| || | only L1 between the two little gold dots-only about 1/100 of an inch apart, and up and down(in the direction toward the L3, but not down to the L3( Be careful not to connect the L1 this way----. If you do this by accident use an eraser, and try again.
