Okay, I have looked everywhere in my house and I cannot find any tool suitable for removing the bridges on my Duron without taking out the contacts themselves. The tool to do this must be EXTREMELY small. I'm sure you all have seen pictures but they make them look a lot bigger than they are. Has anyone actually successfully removed the bridges? I know Tom's Hardware suggested an etching tool but I don't even want to know how much one of those cost (would be cheaper to buy the actual CPU!). There must be a simple solution, and I know you guys can think of it. I've tried scratching them off with an exacto knife, but that didn't do a **** thing. Oh, btw, a lot of sites claim that you don't have to disconnect any of them. This is total BS. I have a Duron650, they say you have to close all the L1 connections to unlock the multiplier, mine came from the factory closed! I know it doesn't work yet because I've tried higher multiplier settings. I can get away with 7.0x but anything higher either doesn't POST or doesn't boot windows, I would just assume overclock with my FSB and get 682 for now. Please help out, I am sooo anxious to crank this puppy up!

When you adjusted the multiplyers did you up the voltage?? You need more voltage to run higher clock speeds and be stable.

Yes, I've tried all the way up to 1.85 volts, I don't think that's the problem. I haven't modified my processor at all.
BTW, do you really have to worry about the BP_FID?

did you try changing the core voltage via the L-7 bridges? http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q3/000711/index.html
this made the dif for my setup.(duron 600@900mhz)

did you try a dental pick?

i'm confussed??? it seems you have a m/b that allows multiplier adjustments(asus or abit socket a boards), and your duron is unlocked. WHY do you need to cut any bridges?? it's not necessary if what i stated above is correct. you are just going to ruin your duron.

I have an Asus A7V, which allows multiplier adjustments via dip switches, but I can't run at high clock speeds.
NUNYADAM- What did you have to do to overclock yours (step-by-step please) and are your L1 bridges cut or not? If they are cut, did they come from the factory this way? I am just confused because my Duron650's bridges just don't seem to match up with what I've seen at Tom's Hardware and everywhere else. Some sites say that all you have to do is connect L1, but mine came connected !?!?!?
Please continue to post if you think you can help me.

my 600 was locked . connected the L-1's with a pencil. check the L-7 bridge (you did read about setting core voltage at tom's did'nt you)connected mine to apear as III:I. which is supposed to be 1.8 volt it actualy gives me 1.85v unless asus is lying to me.

I can change my voltage already, without modification, Asus Probe gives me the VCore voltage reading, and like you, if I put in 1.8, it reads 1.85, 1.85 reads as 1.9. I don't think I need to worry about L7.

it appears that your duron came with the L1 bridges closed. this is GOOD so dont try to cut them. if they are closed then you can o/c it by changing the multiplier. all you have to do is get out the a7v manual and look on p.22-23 for info on the jumpers.

I am not that stupid, I think I know how to overclock them, and I already know that it doesn't work, I can't push it to even 700 Mhz
