I have a laptop with no CD-ROM. It currently has Windows95 installed but it often asks for certain Win95 disks when I'm doing things (such as installing or removing programs). Since I no longer have the disks, would it be possible to upgrade to Win98 through Direct cable conneciton with my desktop? My concern is that direct cable will terminate when those specific files are being overwritten on the laptop. Any thoughts??? Thanks

If disk space is available, you can copy the WIN98 directory from the WIN98 CD-ROM over the wire to the laptop, and run setup from the laptop's hard drive. At that point it will also remember where they are stored and never(almost never) ask for the CD again.
