I would appreciate any insight that someone might have on the how to locate the hidden file(s) that are placed on my computer when I install a Time trial demo. I know that they are hidden because when I uninstall then re-install the Time trail demo the time left till the demo expires is the same as the time left when I uninstalled it.
that's why it's a demo!
normally they drop something into the registry or perhaps a system directory to let it know when the timer started or how many uses it has had etc.
it is rare that the key or file is particularly obvious, and may well be cryptic too.
I can't suggest a hack, because that would be inappropriate on this forum, but a program like regmon will allow you to see which registry keys are accessed when you start up this program, and/or regclean may remove superfluous keys. This should give an idea of how to permanently remove this redundant and useless key from your system.
As with any registry editing, you can severely **** up your system if you don't know what you are doing. Approach with caution.
