Wireless Internet

Hi I'm asking to see if anyone has had any experiance with wireless internet. I don't have DSL or Cable access yet in my area but wireless is now available. It is high speed,bi-directional at 256k or 512k running on a 2.4ghz.
I play online games alot and am wondering what kind of ping wireless has compaired with DSL. DSL will be available in 6 month should I wait or go with wireless?

Any info would be great.
