Missing the point

Sorry dude, there is NO way around the multiplier on the PIII. None. Nada.
But, to overclock it, you can up the FSB (front side bus), and that will overclock it just as well, as long as you go straight to 133MHz Bus.....

Can you then tell which cpu's are good to overclock or remove the lock.../???
I don't understand something my freind has a celeron 500 running inside his fridge with liquide cooling and it's running at 1.02GHTZ
it's crazy....!!!!
He told me i was able to remove the multiplier off my cpu, as he did with his and clock it up to 1.2gightz.....
There must be a way to do it....
Thanks again...
Mike

Uhh, no offence, but your friend is full of it.
That is total BS.
There is NO way to remove the Multiplier on any Intel CPU after the P II.....
There is NO physical way that your friend could have overclocked a Celeron 500 to more than 620. Those things did NOT overclock well at all.....
Please show your friend this thread, I would like to talk to him http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I concur with Missing the point on this matter.

MTP didn't miss this one. he is correct. Noone has published a way to get around this. This would be a huge advancement in the world of tweakers and would be widespread if it was available no matter how difficult it was...
Sorry

There's so much BS like that around.I know guys who claims too have a Celery 300A at 700mhz,what isn't even possible with the highest FSB.And a guy who says he has a PIII 1400mhz (dual PIII-500@700mhz,if he even has that).

I don't understand something.
'splain it to me.
If you're willing to spend $400 on the latest cooling device, then why not spend the extra coupla bucks on a faster chip.
I think some people are missing the point.
OVERCLOCKING IS SUPPOSED TO SAVE YOU MONEY!
Immagine, spending $200 for a 600MHz chip and cooling system to run it a 793MHz (sarcastic WOW), and voiding your warrantee; when you can just buy an 800 MHz chip for $200.

i have seen dual celeron 500s that can get to 700 with extreme cooling. but that is rare. the only people i have heard of havin unlocked multipliers had engineering samples that were unlocked...never have i heard of a chip that was bought from a retailer/oem that was unlocked.
with those chips it seems that between 660 and 730 seems to be as far as you can go...good luck with seeing what it will do...

Papalion, you can go and buy a Golden Orb heatsink and fan assembly for about 28-30 dollars. And if you want to "take it up a notch", you can make a watercooled peltier for about $100. But to tell you the truth, I haven't seen anyone spend $400 for a cooling system, unless you are talking about cooling a T3E Super Cray, which would be more like $4000. In any case, I think you added one too many zeroes.
However, there may be extremists who build elaborate refrigeration systems, but thats not typical of overclockers.

This is my situation!!!
I got my self the best overclockable motherboard soyo 6vba133...
I got myself a liquid cooling system for the cpu.... (Dam it's cold) 2 degrees celcius.
Now that all is setup i need some help on the last step....
REMOVING THE MULTIPLIER OFF THE P3 550/512k
I hope someone will be able to help me out on that one....
Thank, all.

My cooling to get my 566 Celeron to 927 (112fsb) was a $14 Golden Orb and a $2 tube of thermal paste from Radio Hack. Even a water cooling system should cost less than $75. With a peltier, probably $115. These cooling systems are reusable as well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Please post a complete description on how he got that Celeron to 1.02GHTZ. And Pics too as well. That is something I would like to see. As for removing the multiplier, I would also like to know how he did that with a complete description. As Missing the point said: "Please show your friend this thread, I would like to talk to him"
