I Just read at anandtech, that the Thunderbird 1Ghz will disipate around 50 Watts of heat.

How many watts does the K6-III 450 disipate at 2.4 watts?

dont you mean 2.4v??? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

anyway the K6-III has about 30 watts of heat that has to be dissapated. the extra cache is the cause of that. the K6-2 only has to dissapate 28watts.

anyway a standard AAVID heatsink will do the job at keeping it cool. but if you plan on cooking the chip like I have you need something quite a bit larger.

I have a GW FOP-32++ (got the 38cfm 7000rmp fan) on it and at stock speed at idle it sits about 82-84F and after 3 hrs of gaming it doesnt break 100F

however I usualy run mine at 504 (112x4.5) 2.6v and ilde it is about 88-90F and after the same time of gaming it doesnt go to much padt 104F

although there are different cores for this chip. the AHX, 2.4v version and the AFR, 2.2v version. the AFR chip was able to scale to 500 and can be cooked to 550 with out too many problems, where the AHX 475 was about as high as you could get it even if the stock speed was 400.
