Custom Logo or Graphics

Okay maybe I'm a little slow, but I need to know how this works. I would like to know how custom company logos are made to appear on a web site. Okay this is the problem, I dont have a logo yet (for my future ebusiness)but I have a good idea for one. What do I use or who should I go to to create it? Is this something I can do? I plan on building my on web site but I need help with this part. Are the logos usually hand drawn and then scanned in? If I have someone else make it, can they put it on disk so that I can use it when ever, where ever? Someone please help me with this. Thanks in advance.

in answer to your questions, yes. I myself am not professional yet, but I have made my own logo for a graphic design class. I used illustrator to create it, photoshop to tweak it, and indesign to create the layout of my biz card and letterhead. those are all adobe programs, by the way. but you can have it made, draw and scan it in yourself, or use the above programs to make one.....
