Finally got a T-bird!!! she's so fassst

Well i finally decide to upgrade my old PII for a new 700Mhz T-Bird http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Here's my new system spec:

AMD Thunderbird 700MHz
Asus AV7 - ATA100
128 PC-133
old Voodoo3 3000

I also did some benchmarks with 3DMark 2000 and i got a score of only 2995 !!!!!!! what the hell is this i thought it would be in the 3000 range with my new T-bird

I also tested Unreal Tournament and i used World Detail -set to High
Skin Texture -set to High
V-sync is enabled for Glide for best image quality
Level of Detail setting for V3 - sharpest image quality

With everything set to high i only get around 50 Fps at 1024 x 786 ;( !!! is this normal or can i go faster with a Gefore 2 GTS


Don't tell me it's my Voodoo3 that is the limit here!! cuz i just bought a few months ago ;(

Please anyone who knows how to tweak a Asus A7V mobo for optimal performance reply and tell me some of the settings in Windows Me or BIOS settings http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

get the geforce 2GTS as your voodoo is the bottleneck

You sure have to be able to get higher then that.

My athlon 650 with 128Mb pc100 and a tnt2@ 170/190 gets a score of 3300 at default benchmark.

Maybe crappy drivers???
The detonator drivers did wonders for me, went from 2800 to 3300.

I know my score is so horrible ... my settting in 3DMark was i chose custom benchmark.... and in it i change the video card setting to:

1024 X 768 16 colour
I used double buffer
and i used the AMD Athon setting

The Final thing i did was cancel the 32MB and 64MB benchmark because my card would run them http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

And in the Windows Display Properties i set all the settings with V-sync disabled !!!

I ran it and only 2995 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
Did i do something with the settings and everything or should i just run default benchmark???

3DMARK SCORE - 4880

I think your voodoo3 is bottleneck (without hardware t&l opts.)

Get the cheap version of the geforce2, it may not be as fast as the gts w/64mb, but it is a fine, fine card for its price, and you could buy 2 for the price of a GeForce 2 GTS.
