if ya are going to get a duron and want to overclock it easly then get the asus AV7 board that has no sound. the ones with no integrated sound have the dip blocks and all components and are able to unlock the mult lock on durons or thunderbirds. i am running my 650 duron at 800 right now with just the change in some dips. just got the board wed and thought i would try it since they were there and read an article on toms hardware that told how to add the dips and smd and resistor to the board so i looked and all the components were already there and low and behold it worked. im only at 1.60 volts on this baby to. performance is almost equal to the clasis and about 90% of the new thunderbird. talk about bang for your buck. i got this chip and board for 300 bucks shiped next day air. I also have water cooling on it but at this point dont think it would be nessassary. not unless i have to go higher to reach higher speeds. have not tried any higher yet but will let ya know.

Is your Duron chip locked? Are the L1 bridges connected on it or not? I am hoping to get lucky and get an unlocked Duron but i am not holding my breath.

Well, 900 with the Duron is a must on the A7V I got it stable @ 1000 with 1.8V. I wouldn't be stable in win98 but I run Linux so...
950 is considered really feasible so keep up.
The 650 chip (that I got) o'clocks the same as the 700 but now with the prices down 10-20% I think the 700 is better since 1000Mhz is almost certain.
What HS-Fan combo do you use? I got an Alpha PAL35 (originally for the P3) took its pads off and put it on my Duron. And here is the trick. With the hook on the side with the PS riser could not clock to 800 stable. Put the hook the otherway around (facing the mem) and it did 1000 like a charm. It's a matter of banalncing the HS on the tiny core surface.
Good luck.

yes. my duron is locked. all the bridges are not connected. i though bummer im gona have to do some mods to the cpu but the asus av7 WITH the second dip block alows you to bypass the lock and adjust the multi with the dips.
i am running a home made water cooler.
