i want to overclock my athlon 750 to 800 mhz don't ask why, just want to....

i have a asus k7v mobo

in the bios i can vary both cpu core voltage (default 1,6 V) and Bus Frequency (default 100 Mhz).

I have a double iceberg cpu cooler and 250W power supply.

My memory is pc-100 is is configured right

I have an agp4x cl gf2gts running with sideband adressing and fastwrites on..

the point is i can just overclock the bus frequency to 103 Mhz, resulting 772,5 Mhz.
When i try to rise it up to 105 Mhz the computer just refuses to boot, nothing happens, screen goes blank and i have to turn the computer off and on. After wich my bios reseted itself...

when i disable Halt on all errors the problem persists..

changing to agp x2 and fastwrites off doesn't solve it either.....

i'm clueless

I use a 750 with a gfd for 950, you may need abit more core voltage, might wanna check and see if yer power supply is on AMD's list as it is the single most reported problem for power hungry Athlons... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes the only way to achieve a good amount of overclocking is to get a gold finger card if you do not have one already. My experience with the K7v board is that it does not like alot of FSB overclocking. You have to change the multiplier and the only way to do that is get gfd card since the athlon classic has locked multipliers.I have worked endlessly to overclock without a gfd and I also can't get above 105fsb.Thats why I ordered a gfd.
