Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : P2l97 goes to Cel 533?
I was looking on asus site and they mention that the p2l97 goes up to Cel 533. The jumpers and manual say the max multiplier is 5x, so does anybuddy know how to jump this higer? I emailed Asus tech but recieved no answer.
Any pointers.... Thanks

Download the manual from the Asus website and print it out. The P2L97 does go up to 533 MHz.

no motherboard is able to change the multiplier on Intel processors as they are locked within the chip itself. my bf6 bios only goes up to 8x and i have an 8.5x chip in it, no problems.

I have an Asus P2L97 running a Celeron 533Mhz PPGA with a Slotket adaptor, it works fine. The multiplier is locked on the CPU so the mobo makes no difference, just remember to flash the mobo bios before putting in a celeron.
Also I was told that the newer FC-PGA Celeron will not work with an LX chipset because the new SSE instructions are not supported, I'm not sure if that's true!
