Just testing here on how much is enough.. At present on this machine I use to surf with, a BB unit amd400, 100mhz fsb, pc chips lmr598, 8 meg Ram for video. This leaves only "24mb RAM" to operate with ,, running fine..at present have 7 windows open, sys info, sys monitor, ie 5.0, etc => result 66% resources free, 60meg swapfile in use, processor usage less than 20%. Just pondering, any thoughts, this unit runs pretty quick. DrVette

Do you mean you have 32 MB of ram? And 8 MB on the video card?

If you were to have 64 MB of ram, I think your system would run better. 128 seems to be the upper end for most purposes. Unless you are playing some high end games that require like 256+ MB of memory.

Now 98 will operate on less than that, but it would be easier on the whole system to have more than what you have. 66% free is really not all that great. But on the other hand if you are happy with the performance right now, then don't change it.

i believe he means he has 32MB RAM and 8 dedicated to video. My suggestion is to upgrade to 64.

Yea I got lots of sticks here, using 160 on one 64 on another.. Just testing to see how effective the swap file is and as in the LIMBO, how low can I go and still function.. thanks,, DrVette
