You can win it at Microsofts web site for filling out a very short survey and giving personal information. I forgot the url sorry, but you should be able to find it with a search. Well, my co-worker got one but I did not, oh well 1/2 aint bad.

congrats to jman for receiving his copy...
and to TJ, you haven't got yours yet because (like me) you probably won in the third round of the contest... jman had one in the first and he is just now receiving his, so you may have awhile to wait yet...

Just got my copy of "P C World" march issue
Read all about it. Maybe Millenium for me.
Now that I feel like I have Win 98 halfway figured out and working OK. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Oh, the peace of mind...

If anyone won one of those and really doesn't want to mess with it, I'm offering $100 for a sealed legit W2K Pro. I've already missed three deals at that price or less and tried hard (maybe too hard http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ) to win one.

Don't cheere too early kids cause you will notice that still many games won't run on it (especially D3D games) just like with NT4. Though Win2000 will make some parts of your system perform better (not on all fronts), +100 on cpu (not fpu) benchmark and +100 with Memory fpu benchmark under Sisoft Sandra (with PIII @ 558)

my buddy got his copy (2 days ago I think?), and was to scared to install it till he hears some reviews, and although he didn't actually give me his copy, I figured I'd try it out for him on my computer.
It is nice, but I can't see me paying $217 for it, and I can't get my BellAtlantic DSL account to work on it (I'm glad I can still boot into 98).
It is nice if you have networked computers in your house that share the internet. That was very simple to set up.
I called BellAtlantic about the DSL problem and they know nothing at all about their software working with Win2000. I think the guy thought I was lying when I told him I was running it.
The bellatl software says I don't have a network card installed,a nd I have 2 of them!
Anyone have any ideas on how I might get it working?

2000 is cool but as you see I ran the betas, Rc1,2,3's and went back to NT4 serv.pack 6 on my server..give it a year or 2 till the new one comes out and I may try it again...
Until then We'll give away Linux box's.

I loaded my Windows 2000 today and the install was easy and quick. All my hardware was detected except for the network card and the NT-4.0 drivers worked on it. Configuring the internet was cake too. I have my Hp 7200e cd burner on this system and am curious if the NT drivers will work here. Anyone know? Should NT 4.0 drivers work on most hardware in win 2000?

I have had very little luck with NT4 drivers in 2K. Burners and scanners are special problems. You may get your burner going by using the information in several of the threads here and in Operating Systems.
i have been running the final version since Dec. 18th,99 and the only thing it didnt recognie was my HP3300 scanner, it says the proper driver are installed but the HP software is incompatible http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
jman01pa
What HP drivers are you talking about?
If you mean the PiiX4 ide driver, that is from Intel and W2K has better ones built in...don't screw with it, it will all work, just load EasyCD Creator 4 and be happy ( DirectCD does not work with W2K though )
If you are talking about the Adaptec ASPI driver, don't worry with that either.

Thanks BBA!
Thats a big relief to me since my primary use of my second system is for burning and downloading! I already know dowloading works excellent.
