I have a BE6-II MB and a 533 Celery. I wanted to pump it up to 75MHZ FSB so it would run at 600MHZ but when I do Windows 98 starts crashing on me. I get in Win98 but after working for just a second I get an error that Explorer has crashed and that is caused a fult in module ati2ddrv.??? I tried slowing down the PCI and AGP multipliers but still had the same problem. I have a good 128MB PC100 chip. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? What should my CPU temperature be at normal operation with one heatsink and fan on it?? It is currently at 44 Celsius and the system temperature is around 30C. Is this high or ok? Thanks for any help.

you may need to bump the voltage just a little bit...and remember to keep cool.

50C is the time to start getting worried. You can bump the voltage up but don't go above 2.8 or 2.85. Too bad, those chips are usually great. I just sold one that did 898 (868 in my 82F room). Good luck

which 533 is it? if it's the 533A DON'T go to 2.8volts, 1.7volts is max!

If it isn't doing 600, then trust me, it ain't a .18 micron. I think dave ment 1.8 r 1.85. For the .25micron, 2.3-2.4v is the max.
For the .18, I'd personaly go to 1.8-1.9v, depending on my cooling.

Are you using thermal paste and what cooler is on this cpu?

I'm not using thermal paste. I'm using the heatsink that came with it. It's a nice one with a ball bearing fan and all. I also have a large case fan just behind it to vent some more air. I have the Celery on a Super Slocket III. Do I have to set the jumpers on it or can I just leave it on automatic?

I don't know much about the Celeron, I'll admit, since I'm an AMD person but I'd definitely slap thermal paste on that heat sink. When I started using it I cut my CPU temp almost 4' C.

Also, sometimes 75 Mhz BUS speeds are just plain quirky. My machine had a great deal of trouble running at 75, but ran at 83 perfectly.
