Iv Clocked My cpu PIII 733 to 813
bus = 148
temp up to 59 deg
iv uped my voltage to 1.8
now the funny thing is, it works fine even games are fine. my agp bus speed is 99 or 2x 198
pci = 37
but when my cpu is under load it seems to emit a high pitched noise and is only just audible. is this bad and is this going to cook my cpu.
no crashes yet,
aven playing games.
or is this sound from some other part of my machine.

I noticed that occasionally with mine (550E@825). It doesn't run hot or crash....?????
But since I put a VOS32 heatsink on, I can hardly hear myself think!!!!!!
Where the noise originates from is a total mystery to me, cos all of the operating frequencies in a PC are hundereds, if not thousands of times higher than the limit of human hearing (15-20kHz). Unless it is some sort of resonant harmonic of one frequency on the mobo. Does it do this if you go slightly higher/lower???
As long as your voltage is not outrageous and the core temp is OK, then I wouldn't worry about killing the CPU. As a safe limit, 10% over default for the core voltage and 50ºC core temp (although my CPU started to lock up if it got much above 47. I am happier now - a decent heatsink keeps the temperature to a maximum of 40ºC and she's nice and stable!
EDIT: I've just spotted your temperature - it's too high, IMO. Are you using stock cooling? If so, I'd invest in a decent cooling setup (it's not expensive) and use good quality thermal paste between the CPU core and the heatsink.
Have a read of my 550E and VOS32 experiences!

My AMD K6-2 366 "buzzes" too, especially when rapidly updating video screens (sound comes from the box, not the monitor). It's 1 1/2 yrs old & runs fine.
