I just bought a computer 8 months ago. I have a 5 year, 1 on-site warranty. I'm having problems with the computer right now. I can't get a hold of the company (Amptech). I think they may have gone out of business. Is there any way the warranty can still be honored? Would the parts have warranties fromt the manufacturers?
most internal parts will be warrantied by the manufacturer.Mainly, hard drive cd drive and floppy drive. If the sound and video are not integrated you might be able to get them warrantied also. What kind of probs are you having?

I was having a power supply problem. I got frustrated and just went ahead and bought a new one. I couldn't tell who the manufacturer of the power supply was. Thanks for the help.

smunzli,
Amptech's web site, phone number, or fax can't be accessed. The better business bureau of cleveland isn't sure of their operating status. They have had several complaints. I think they went out of business.
Whats the deal with Ohio and "fly by night"
computer companies? I go to alot of computer shows and alot of the shady companies are based out of Ohio. Nothing against Ohio,
but I'm wondering if there a laws on the books that shelter companies there.
Just an observation!

Are there laws that shelter companies anywhere? What are they? Is there anything I can do about my situation?

It's actually happend to me once before..
I had a warranty and the company went bankrupt, but they send me a statement stating my rights as a consumer. I'm under the opinion that if they haven't send you a bankrupcy form they're still liable.. If you
have a card of the person who sold you the computer I'd look him up on Bigfoot and trak'em down
