One thing to try if your win95 gives you a protection fault when overclocking is to download the AMD k6-2 patch at microsoft.com...my system (shuttle HOT-569, AMD-k6-2 300/66 ) has been running at 337 using 2.3v 4.0X83.3 with no stability problems since i installed the patch....the chip never gets above room temp even when running quake2 for hours....
anyone ever have sucess w/ 4.5 X 83.3? my system wont boot at that setting...

Mine is running at 400 Mhz(4x100) with no problems and cool. Try to use a little program called setk6. It would be help.
Good luck

biggdogg...what motherboard do you have? that will be the most limiting factor right off...if it is a clone system, you probably can overclock it fairly easily. recently i overclocked a friends computer. it is an acer aspire desktop...it had a k6-2 300 in that now runs at 366 at stock voltage...that board did have jumpers for increased multiplier and bus speeds though and many name brand systems will not...

Thanks for writing, neo.
It's a compaq presario 2256. I am in the process of obtaining info on the motherboard right now but I keep hitting brick walls.
Is it hard to do cause I just bought quake 3 arena and you need 350 mhz. (I got 300mhz) and I've been told that I CANT upgrade my processor.
Peace
