I bought an Abit VA-6 that's running a PIII 600E. It came without a thermal cable. Just a recommendation to purchase a 10ohm cable at an electronic's store. I ordered a couple thermal cables ($0.59 each), but does anyone know where to find the little orange/brown colored connectors that hook the thermal cable onto the (RT1) mobo header?
Mine is a 2-pin header.
Thx!

Same problem with my Abit VT6X4, no thermal cable supplied. I had to buy the resistor and connect it to a cable and connect that to the little connector on the motherboard.
Ff you don't have an adequate cable-to-mobo connector, the trick is to use two jumpers to make it.

Also beware: you need 10K Ohm resistors, not 10 Ohm...

Thx, Keermalec for the info and the schematic! I ordered a couple 10kilohm Thermistors @ $0.59 (Cat.#: 900-8025)from RadShack.

Did you "tape" your cable to the cpu as is demonstrated in the Abit manual? I wonder what kind of tape one is supposed to use . . .

I just plunged the thermistor head into the thermo-conductive paste between the ceramic plate of the processor and the heat sink. I taped the cables onto the slocket chip with regular electrical tape.
