That is the question, provided that athlon classic will stay in the marked in the same time as the T-bird at a reduced price. So, for the same price, a duron 700 or an ahtlon 650?
You can clock both to 800+
What do you think?
The Duron is supposed to be faster than a classic Athlon at similar clock speeds, but the real reason Id get a Duron is because its motherboards have a future, SlotA is dying out as soon as Classic Athlons go away, at least with the Socket A you can move to T-Bird, probably future CPU's also.

the key point then is future upgradability.
but if such a device as a slotket A comes out the problem might be solved.
Also the Duron as at least a month away. I mean if everyone rushes to buy on there will be a shortage (locally) for a couple of weeks. And then it's the mobos. When is abit releasing theirs?
Theres 4 or 5 Duron Mobos that I know of, And I believe I read somewhere with the EV6 bus a Slocket just isnt feasable. I thought Durons were already released a few days ago, Ill have to check PriceWatch hehe.
But Asus, EpoX, FIC, GigaByte, MSI, they all have Duron mobos out =P
