The best way to overclock an Athlon is to purchase an overclock card/module that attaches to an edge connector of your CPU and allows you to change the multiplier and core voltage. Some Athlon overclock cards can also allow chainging the L2 cache divider.

I'm sure that you will get many replies to this query, so I will let the others fill you in.

You can find informative reviews on the Athlon CPU and overclocking on our own beloved Sysopt (http://sysopt.earthweb.com) just have a look under "reviews."

I just received an MS-6167 mobo and Step-Thermodynamic Athlon 500 that is supposed to run at 650mhz. Is there any way to OC it over 650? This is my first Athlon, and I don't know much about it. The mobo manual doesn't seem to list anything about clock multipliers or bus speeds. What is the secret?
