Hey all;

Just put together a new rig> Abit Ka7, Athlon 700, etc......bought pc 133 sdram advertised as athlon compatible...it's holding me back, I think...can only get about 850 stable.....
Which ram should I get for the best performance (oc) with the athlon?? What is there about an Athlon that makes it so 'special' when it comes to compatibility?
Just would like to know why you can't use the 'cheap' stuff:> ) Generic=no..PNY=no.....etc.,etc...,
Gotta do something different than what I'm doing now! Thanks already..Ol'Ben

You mean you are o/c'ing yer athlon by upping the fsb???

Hehehe, then it is probably NOT your ram that is holding you back!!!

The chipsets for athlon boards, be it the kx133 or the amd chipsets, ussually max out around 110 maybe 115 Mhz fsb!!!

If you want to do some serious o/c'ing with the athlon, you should either get yourself a goldfinger card, or you'd have to be mighty handy with a soldering iron!!!
