Soon enough, we probably wouldn't need fido no more as technologies gets so far advanced that we can buy some kind of an computerized electronic *TOP DOG* and program it to do all the tricks that our real buddies lacked. It may even have its own feelings and emotions, and maybe it can surf the net too! At least when my electronic little buddy go fetches me my morning newspaper it won't have doggie drool all over it...YUK!Some house chores would be nice. Like they say - "On the net, nobody knows you're a dog/duck."
Kinda like the maid in "THE JETSONS".
"The Jetsons" world is not that farfetched actually. Engineers are actually making prototypes of space cars, if you will. Interplanetary space travel? Living in the 21st century is going to be exciting alright.

Target - lets just hope it doesn't get hungry and take a bite @ your hot dog while you're still in the showers!
The water may have very well gave the dog a short and made him *buggy* and take some erratic actions.
Awe man, that must be painful.
Sorry I had to be a little *sick* minded, but I couldn't resist! LOL

The truly funny part is that I had a dog once that absolutely LOVED the water. You had to seriously lock yourself in the bathroom when taking a shower, or the dog would get into the shower/tub if you were in there.....god it was funny. Taking him to the lake was a nightmare if he got loose. I'd have to wait for like 1-2 hours for the darn dog to get tired of it and get out..... he must've thought he was a fish or something <lol> http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Lol! Fred... he's so cute! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Target - I too had a dog who loved the water. (brindle half lab/pit). We used to do laps together! He loved that pool, he'd swim til he was exhausted. He also used to entertain by diving for rocks - we'd throw rocks into the pool, he would dive down and retrieve them. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Gosh I miss him! Nothing could take the place of a real live warm furball http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Now look what you've started. Boomer in the back (Keishond/something), Scooby in the front (Black Lab/Rottweiler). Scooby's only 4 months old and already that big. Smart too. Only took 3 days to house train him.

For those of you who have lost a pet.. (get a tissue)
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

I had a black lab and all she wanted to do was play frisbee and go swimming. It's a shame we had to give her away.

Toadman - that was great. We had a wonderful dog, Muffy, that had cancer and we were told that she had less than 3 months to live. Due to some great vets at the NC University Vet School we were able to enjoy another wonderful 2 and half years with her. Our pets our so resilient that we are put to shame next to them. The toughest thing was having to explain to our 5 year old daughter what happened. We found a book called "Dog Heaven," written and illustrated by Cynthia Rylant that I recommend to any family with young children in this difficult situation. Although it did not relieve the sadness (all of us shed a lot of tears reading this), but it did help put our daughter at ease.
Sorry to ramble on.
We now have two great pets: Freckles (a beagle) and Gracie (a whippet). If I could figure out how to post a picture I would show everyone.
