using abit zm6, celeron 400, runs at 450 no prob at stock voltage and never gets over 43C, even runs at 83 fsb at stock voltage, but half-life won;t work due to the wierd pci bus speed. ran it at 2.3 volts for a day and a half running 3dmark2000 demo loop, or half-life, stable and never got over 48C at 450. however whenever i try for 100 fsb it freezes, either right when i change the bus in softfsb, or right as "starting windows 98" is appearing...what might cause this freeze? even if my temo monitors are way off, i should still be within temp range. my memory is 8ns pc100 so it should be all good...might it be the cache? or something else??

Need more voltage buddy. Are you still at default? 100 mhx FSB on the 400 requires a small jump. You should be good at about 2.2v. The back it down and see how low you can go.

i can run it as high as 2.3 and the results are the same...
i doubt i can hit 100....but i just trying to learn what stops it...

Have you tried with UDMA disabled??....you said your pci bus speeds are strange, and that might cause problems with UDMA.....I was held back by this too....thinking I would loose too much performance.....but I cannot notice the lack of UDMA....I'm +120Mhz overclocked without it, and I was stuck with it on :-).

Also, certain MAXTOR drives do not like odd pci bus speeds, causing UDMA to stop you just before you see the desktop.

I hope you have the divisor set to 1/3 and not 1/2. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Just a thought.

well...with udma OFF in bios, DMA off in windows, and level 2 cache disabled i got it to boot at 600@2.3volts, its not totally stable either....i guess right now 600 is not a realism....500 is totally stable though, but due to the wierd bus speed (41.5) half-life is unplayable making 500 TOTALLY out of the question...
i just finished lapping my k6-2 400 and will be putting a linux box together next...wonder how well i can get that running???

i would love to set the divisor to 13 ...but it seems to be locked at 1/2...??this is really frustrating...
